Greenhouse growers using climate control equipment can find a lot of value in recapturing water content in their environment. The hydrologic automated reclaimed condensate system (ARCS) does exactly that, by capturing the water typically discharged through condensate drains. This reclaimed water is free of contaminants and it is also pH balanced. In an efficiently sealed growing environment recycling this water is possible more than once. In addition to an obvious benefit of money saving, by checking the water level in the reclaim tank growers can monitor the intake of water by their plants and adjust hydroponic feeding accordingly.
Key Takeaways:
- Hydroponics growers can use systems like the ARC to get water from the air for their plants.
- The water from ARC systems has a good pH and is free from contaminants, making it ideal for growing.
- If you’re careful, you can keep a sealed environment for your plants and reuse the same water again and again.
“More recently CEA (controlled environment agriculture) growers operating sealed growing environments have started to save the condensate water to reapply when it’s time to refill hydroponic reservoirs or watering barrels–often with mixed results due to inconsistencies in the final quality of the water after it’s gone through the appliance, tubing and finally into a capture or holding tank.”
