How To Use Coco Coir Blocks

How To Use Coco Coir Blocks

July 15, 2020 By Andres Ocon Leave a Comment

Coco Coir blocks are a popular medium for urban gardeners. The first step to using them is to soak the blocks in a wide, watertight container, using one litre of water per block. After a half hour of soaking, pull away parts of each block to speed up hydration. The blocks are ready when they are completely broken up and have a natural texture. Coco Coir blocks are highly water absorbent but lack nutrients, thus making them an ideal starting medium.

Key Takeaways:

  • Coco Coir Blocks are great for a beginning urban gardener because they are versatile.
  • First you should soak them so they become more crumbly and easy to use.
  • You can use the material for starting seeds, helping with water retention, and more.

“As Coco Coir Blocks have little to no nutrients present in them when first bought, they are ideal for anyone who wants greater control over what they feed their plants.”
